Getting Your Child Interested In Reading

Are you having trouble getting your child to be interested in reading? Reading experts say that children sometimes prefer nonfiction books. Books about dinosaurs, trains, jungle animals, reptiles, space flight, robots, or sports can sometimes engage the reluctant reader. And it’s okay if your child doesn’t read it from cover to cover. Using a book as a reference over and over is an approach of literacy that tells the child, books can be an important source of information. So find out what interests your child and provide books with realistic pictures or photos that engage and secure their interest. They will soon be reading the print to get more information about the subject that interests themSM32.
