Taniesha Alexander, BA/Social Science

My name is Taniesha Alexander, and I would like to introduce myself as your director.  I have a B.A. degree in Social Science from Mercy College and have worked in Early Childhood Education for 22 years. I have worked with autistic children for nine years and served as an assistant teacher for learning support students in a middle school.

I am originally from Jamaica. I grew up in Greenwich, Connecticut, and after high school I moved to New York. I love to travel, read, watch movies, shop, and listen to music. I am married to my wonderful husband Michael, and we have two lovely children a boy, Connor and a little angel, Chloe.

I chose to work in Early Childhood because working with children has reminded me of how amazing and exciting the world can be. I love seeing things from their eyes. Children also encourage me to use my imagination and find new creative ways to do things. My favorite part of the day is when the children start to arrive, because that is when I see their true personalities. I am inspired to see the children and their parents happy. If they are happy that means that I am doing my job as an educator.

My door is always open to parents. I want parents to know that once they drop their child off at my school they are in good hands. I treat them like I would treat my own children.
