My name is Debbie McGowan, and I would like to introduce myself as your Director. I grew up in the Northern Virginia area and have now lived in Loudoun County for the past four years. I began working in a retirement home, then as a nanny to three boys until they were in all in elementary school. I earned my Child Development Associate’s certificate, and I have served in the Early Childhood Education field for more than 16 years. I started as a preschool teacher, moved to Administrative Assistant, then to Director.
I am married to my high school sweetheart. We have been together for 21 years, married for 12 years. We have a son named Jack who is 11 and a dog named Lucy who is 16. I enjoy outdoor activities. I love watching my son play baseball and enjoy going to sporting events.
I chose to work with children because I love being able to build memorable moments with them. My favorite part of the day is going into the classrooms and having all the children run to me to tell me what they are learning, or about their night, or what they are going to do on the weekend.
The school is my extended family and home. I want it to feel like that. I am proud to be representing Minnieland Academy Ashbriar in the area. I love working with children and watching them grow and develop.
